NECA was established in 2009 as the national Health Technology Assessment research agency in Korea. The agency's goal is to provide objective and quality information on medical devices, medicines, and health technology thereby improving national health and enhancing the sustainability of health system.

The agency has conducted Health Technology Assessment research and provided scientific evidence for formulating healthcare policy. NECA also has been preparing grounds for Health Technology Life Cycle evaluation and effective research system.

NECA has strengthened its role in supporting national healthcare policy decision-makings and both stabilized and streamlined New Health Technology Assessment policy in cooperation with the related institutions. Also, NECA has been supporting the development of public clinical research as the leading organization that implements National Health Clinical Research project.

Not only that, as one of the founding members in HTAsiaLink, a collaborative network of HTA agencies in the Asia-Pacific region, NECA has actively participated in establishing international network in Health Technology Assessment.

As the national Think Tank on healthcare, NECA with its expertise will strive to provide optimal health technology assessment mechanism suitable to healthcare environment in Korea.
