Project overview

New Health Technology Assessment project headquarters is aimed at making contributions towards the protection of the rights of the people of Korea for maintenance of health and establishment of health and medical service policies related to New Health Technology Assessment by systematically analyzing and assessing whether the new health technologies introduced to the medical market in Korea and used on the people of Korea are safe and effective through medical (scientific) literature, and by assertively notifying the results to the people and executing activities for enhancement of understanding by the people.

Grounds for the project

New Health Technology Assessment project headquarters executes works assigned by the Minister of Health & Welfare in accordance with Article 55 of the [Medical Law] and Article 8 of the [Regulations on New Health Technology Assessment].

Contents of the project

• Administrative works related to application for New Health Technology Assessment
• Support the operation of the New Health Technology Assessment Committee
• Support operation of the specialized assessment (sub) committee for each of the areas
• Works accompanied in the processes including submission of materials and hearing opinions related to New Health Technology Assessment
• Execute research on [Systematic literature review] related to the assessment of the safety and effectiveness of the applied health technology
• Development of methods and standards for New Health Technology Assessment
• Other issues stipulated by the Minister of Health & Welfare in relation to New Health Technology Assessment
